Creators React to Pornhub’s New Recommendation Algorithm

Creators Respond to the Implementation of Pornhub's New Algorithm LOS ANGELES — Under its upgraded content discovery and recommendation system, Aylo, Ose has rolled out an update to improve long-term audience engagement for creators. According to the company, the change aims to enable videos to last longer online, rather than reaching a brief peak immediately after they go live, with follower numbers then falling off precipitously thereafter.

In a blog post for Parents who are members of its model program, Aylo explained that the new approach would be to recommend videos to viewers who are more likely to enjoy them, with an emphasis on “evergreen” content that continues to surface over time. Additionally, creators who upload regularly are promised increased visibility.

Aylo claims the move has been made to create a "longtail" effect, giving videos a longer life and broadening the target audience (that includes taking regional and language preferences into account).

Resistance from Leading Creators While Aylo positions the update as being advantageous to creators, several top earners have voiced their dissatisfaction. Popular performer Jak Knife, who, together with partner Elly Clutch, has over 1.3 billion views on Pornhub, reports that his income has been reduced significantly since the changes.

Knife asserts that his earnings have decreased by more than50% during the past two months, mainly because the update appears to have cutback visibility on the site's "featured" discovery page. He has criticized the platform for promoting frequent uploads, only for the new system to reportedly penalize those same efforts.

Clutch echoed his feelings, describing the update as "a huge slap in the face to their top creators" and suggesting it has left her with no motivation to upload new content.

Concerns of the Greater Community. Other creators joined the debate, recounting similar dips in both engagement and income. Performer Cami Strella described the update as a demotivation: Even her most ambitious content sees poor results under the new system.

However, not everyone has had a bad experience. Some performers told AVN they have not seen significant changes to their metrics, and others — especially newer creators — found the impact minimal. For example, content creator Scott Trainor observed that while his outcomes are consistent, things remain tough for visibility unless a video is featured.

Response from Aylo defended the algorithm changes, stating that it intended to improve the user experience by showing audiences content more closely matched to their preferences. A spokesman said this update was also supposed to bring creators closer to audiences who likely appreciate their work, such as users in specific regions or language markets.

“We know this may financially impact some creators,” a spokesperson said, “but the intention is to give a more sustainable visibility opportunity over time and a chance for engagement.
